Ecuador earthquake VIDEO: Terrifying 7.5 magnitude RING OF FIRE quake hits Ecuador

RESIDENTS of Guayaquil, Ecuador, were forced to the streets after a terrifying 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit the south-American country's border with Peru.

A deep earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 struck the Peru-Ecuador border region early on Friday morning, the United States Geological Survey said. The quake's epicentre was in a sparsely populated area 224 km (140 miles) east-southeast of Ambato, Ecuador, at a depth of 132 km. The USGS's initial reading had assessed the quake, which occurred at 5:17 a.m. (1017 GMT), at magnitude 7.7.

There was no risk of a tsunami being triggered, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, and there were no initial reports of casualties or damage.
One resident in Cuenca, Ecuador, 253 km from the epicentre, described the temblor as very strong, while a second resident in the same city reported experiencing "a good 30 second shake", according to witness statements on the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre website.
Residents took it to the streets after the shocking quake hit them in the town of Guayaquil.
Emergency services are currently assisting people in the worst-hit areas.
Evacuation plans have been issued, although there are no tsunami warnings in place at the moment.
No serious injuries have been reported so far.
On Tuesday, a 4.9 magnitude quake hit Peru and at the same time, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake hit Vanuatu.
Meanwhile, Vanuatu was struck by a 4.6 earthquake, around 48km north west of Sola, 8.10am UTC, with a depth of 198.0 km. No injuries or building damage have yet been reported for either earthquake.
The earthquakes occured in regions that lie along the Ring of Fire, which is 25,000 miles-long and shaped like a horse-shoe.
The Ring is also known for its chain of volcanoes and is located in a huge are in the basin of the Pacific Ocean.
This is said to be the location for 90 per cent of the world’s earthquakes too.
