A 5.6 magnitude earthquake with epicenter 64 miles off Ferndale coast came in this morning
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. - Friday, an earthquake rocked residents and visitors of Ferndale at about 8:30 pm.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey's map, it had a 5.6 magnitude with an epicenter 64 miles off the coast of Ferndale.
1,400 people reported feeling it and North Coast News spoke to one
woman who was only in town for the night when objects in her hotel room
started shaking.
"I thought it was a ghost, not gonna lie, it was a little scary," said
Cyndi Turner, the woman visiting Ferndale with her husband.
"All of a sudden, as I was putting on some makeup, the mirror started
shaking and we had the water on as well and I thought at first, it was
the plumbing.. it's an old Victorian mansion that we're staying in and I
thought okay this is really old plumbing and I was very nervous,"
Turner recalled.
She asked the hotel staff if they had felt anything and when they had, she knew it was an earthquake.
