AFRICA'S CO and SO2 EMISSIONS

Central to South AFRICA looks like lots of nuclear bombs have fallen on it! This pattern of CO emissions has been going on for a while.! Other places where this persists a long time are, NY, Beijing. Planetary I am sure, but most interesting to know it persists for a long time!
Below is the corresponding sensor image of SO2 emissions. The region emissions coincide.
