There is consensus among scientists that 9.3 magnitude earthquake powerful enough to unleash a tsunami could strike the west coast of America after a series of tremors on a major fault line.
There have been ten medium-strength earthquakes in the California area, all within a localised radius, within the past ten days, The Express reports.
The latest struck yesterday, when a shallow magnitude 3.6 earthquake was reported three miles from Yucca Valley, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
A 5.2 magnitude quake also hit Borrego Springs, San Diego County, in California last Friday.
The high number of force three or more quakes has led to fears of what may be to come. The Cascadia Rising emergency tests indicate the San Andreas Fault in California is capable of 8.3 magnitude quake.
