USGS to release first-ever hazard maps for human-induced earthquakes

The first-ever maps showing potential dangers from human-induced earthquakes will be released Monday from the United States Geological Survey.
The maps are expected to show the areas at highest risk for dangerous quakes that are caused by man-made quakes.

The USGS has put out earthquake hazard maps for years, but those maps focus on natural earthquakes. This outlook will focus on induced seismicity.
The maps are expected around noon.
Oklahoma has had record shaking in the last few years. Scientists say the increase in quakes is a direct result of a massive increase in wastewater injection as a part of the fracking process.
