5.1R Earthquake in Peloponnese Greece.

A very strong earthquake took place yesterday with focus near Ancient Olympia, close to Krestena. The duration was long enough an was felt a few minutes before 21:00 on Monday, February 15 in Arcadia. According to data from the Geodynamic Institute, Greece, the earthquake was very powerful and happened:

According to preliminary information, the quake was particularly felt in Megalopolis, while talk of damage to the city. As seismologist Professor Lekkas said, the earthquake occurred at fault which has given earthquake up to 5.6 on the Richter scale, while the reports refer to damages only in appliances. After about ten minutes from the earthquake (in 21:06) followed aftershock magnitude 3.2. Two more aftershocks of magnitude 2.1 were recorded (at 21:29) and 2.5 (at 21:38) Richter.
According to the assessment of Prof. Leka was the main earthquake.
According to information carrying media of Ilia the earthquake broke pipes hospital Krestenon and flooded the basement.
As the patrisnews have reported, there were cracks appreared in house walls, collapsed walls in Frixa without any injuries. In the region of the epicenter of the earthquake the Fire Brigade have moved in. Landslides recorded border Ilia - Arcadia and in particular the national Pyrgos-Tripoli highway at the height of the bridge Erymanthos.
