Taipei, Dec. 6 (CNA) An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale shook eastern Taiwan Sunday, according to the Central Weather Bureau. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake occurred at 12:42 p.m., with its epicenter located at sea 33.6 kilometers northeast of the Hualien County government building, the bureau said. It struck at a depth of 21.4 kilometers.
The temblor was felt the most in the Taroko Gorge area in Hualien County, where it registered an intensity of 3 on Taiwan's 0-7 earthquake intensity scale.
An intensity of 2 was registered in Nanao in Yilan County and on Mt. Hehuan in Nantou County.
The cities of Hualien and Yilan also felt the quake.
