Moderate earthquake jolts western Myanmar
YANGON, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake
measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted western Myanmar Friday
afternoon, according to the state Department of Meteorology and
Hydrology.
With its epicenter 144 km northwest of Mandalay and 56 km northwest of Monywa, the quake struck at 3:04 p.m. local time (0834 GMT).
The quake was felt in Mandalay, Minmu, Mingyan, Mogok and Thabeikgin.
Houses in Mandalay and Myingyan were affected by the quake.
Some stupas reportedly collapsd in Kani town, west of Monywa.
